Learn to Fly
Learning to fly will be one of the most enjoyable and rewarding
experiences of your life. You will learn the principles of flying during
one-on-one ground school sessions, with most of your time actually flying with
the most qualified instructors available. Our structured curriculum ensures
proper coverage of all topics, yet with unique flexibility to conform to your
lifestyle.
At Performance Flight we provide the best private training available with
unmatched standards of excellence. Our instructors each have thousands of hours
of flight experience, which directly contributes to the elite level of training
offered. They all have impressive backgrounds as pilots and as individuals with
infectious levels of true passion for flying.
Safety is paramount at Performance Flight. We fly the safest and
most advanced airplanes available and adhere to strict policies. Statistics
clearly demonstrate that flying remains the safest method of transportation and
can be an easily enjoyed method of travel. Our airplanes are all new and
carefully maintained right here at the FBO where the only area Cirrus
Authorized Repair Center is located. As you begin your training you will learn
how to safely and properly enjoy your flying experience.
When you first come to Performance Flight here is what you can
expect. Arrive at the Westair building and get ready to begin your pursuit for
the ultimate experience. You will sit down with a Performance Flight instructor
who will discuss all school policies such as scheduling. You will then begin
learning with a preflight inspection of the airplane. Your instructor will
teach you the proper method for visually and physically inspecting the
airplane. You will start on the outside checking all moving parts, engine oil,
landing gear, and more. Next, climb in...once the batteries are switched on
your adrenalin will really start to pump as the advanced avionics systems come
alive offering a wealth of information, all at your fingertips. You will learn
how to check all systems and flows for proper operation. Once complete it’s
time to start the engine and head to the runway for your first flight lesson.
Just try and hold back a wide grin when you land...we dare you!
The more often you fly the sooner you will complete your training.
A significant portion of what you will learn is muscle memory that teaches you
how to physically control the airplane. The light touch to fly smoothly is an
acquired skill that comes with time, and repetition leads to perfection. All
flight lessons are taught in 3-hour blocks and ground school is usually 2 hours
per session. We strongly encourage you to make your best efforts to fly 2 to 4
times per week. Most students complete their training in approximately 60
hours, although additional time may be required based on your pace.
